The past 2 and a half hours of my time were spent on watching a film. And what a film! Not that I watch bad films, oh no. The Devil’s Advocate, however, is quite unique. Far from my usual gangster, western, detective or adventure movie picks. A mystery, a horrific thriller that gave me a scare, even after watching it the second time. Truly, one of the few films that actually made me turn my head the other way, especially the subtle transformations of the face and figure which haunted Mary Anne, and although being so minor, had such an immense effect (this demonstrates why a lot of my drawings came out bad because of tiny proportional mistakes).
I especially liked the ending, the double-twist, where the news-reporter begs Kevin Lomax (Keanu Reeves) to take an interview with him about the case which he lost. The film ends with the reporter successfully agreeing on a date for an interview, whereafter transforming into Lucifer, a.k.a. John Milton (Al Pacino) and proclaiming “Vanity is definitely my favourite sin!", with an ambiguous, mean, mischievous, content and pleased smile on his face...
