Last night, I got this very unoriginal idea of writing to my future-self. No, no videos. I’m too shy and awkward for that. Hmm, I’m not sure how to begin this, but, here I am, writing a post, addressing my future-self...
I am 15 years old. I am thinking of how I would react to this in, say, 20 years time. No, I wouldn’t laugh my head off, I know me. Look at yourself, where have you ended up? Have you completed a degree at a university?... Or have you bunked and ended up as a cleaner? Did you decide to stay in England or go to Russia? Or maybe you were so lucky to get a job offer from abroad. Hmm, currently, I wish to go back to Russia after I complete my education. I don’t want to live abroad, in England or America. I want to live where I was born and raised, where I spend my summer holidays with the closest friends and family I have.
Maybe everything will change, 20 years is a long time. I would (most likely) have formed different views and opinions on different matters. Who will I be? I just want to say “hi!" and hope that you, Nick S, didn’t go down the wrong path. After all, anything can happen. Heh, remember how you loved to listen to rap and hip-hop (written in lowercase on purpose) when you were 9 years old? Still laughing at that... But now I’m 15, my taste for music has greatly changed for the better (sarcasm) - I now listen to the highly intellectual Shostackovich, Debussy, and Beethoven, just to name a few names. Hehe. That was a joke. I seldom listen to classical music, to be honest. Right now, I’m into Progressive House, Trance, Indie, a little bit of Hardrock and Neo-classical music. My (currently) favourite artists are -
- Linkin Park
- Max Richter
- Yann Tiersen
- Hanz Zimmer
- Above and Beyond
- Ennio Morricone
- Ludovico Einaudi
But, as I say, most of them are temporary, they will soon fade away, they will stop being my favourites.
Sic transit gloria mundi
A nice quote there... Hmm, what music do you listen now? Yeah, I’m talking to you in 20 years time, Nick! Do you find the music I currently listen to pathetic? You probably do! I know you, or rather, me! Hmm, I predict that I will be laughing at me in 20 years time, when I will read this the second time. Meh, I don’t mind my future-self laughing at my current-self. What a paradox!
However, I will never laugh at Classical music. It is ageless. I love it and will love it more as I grow. Especially Shostackovich. Hmm...
Are you a coward or a straight-out ass? Who are you? Who did you become? Do you read Dostoevsky or constantly watch T.V.? Do you still use the Internet? What kind of speeds do you get? If the Apple computer changed so much in 30 years, what will 30 years do to the Internet? Is piracy still around? Or did it become a capital offence to download films and music for free? Hehe, if so, then there won’t be enough prisons for the Russians.
20 years is a long time...
